COVID-19 Salon Protocols and Regulations

Thank you for being a loyal and supportive client of Bang Salon!

We value your belief in us and want to be extremely clear that we are taking your safety and health, as well as that of our staff, with the utmost seriousness and care.  As licensed salon professionals, it is not only our job, it is our commitment.  The recent events of this crisis have changed the way each of us lives and that is no different here at the salon. There are many new safety and sanitation initiatives that we are implementing, and working diligently to follow CDC guidelines and keeping you safe.  Please review this critical information and let us know if you have any questions.  Your care and comfort mean the world to us!

**November 17th UPDATE: emergency travel order**

Travelers from the following states and territories should quarantine upon arrival in Chicago: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York,  North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

​SALON CLEANLINESS – In order to keep you safe, the salon is professionally cleaned each week during non business hours. Throughout the day all stations, washing bowls and areas are constantly cleaned before and after each appointment. It is our duty to keep the space as safe and clean as possible for our customers.

SOCIAL DISTANCING – Chicago and Illinois has moved back to phase 3 with a stay at home advisory guidance. We will continue to maintain sufficient distance between chairs and in the lobby area, and only allow the required capacity mandated.

MASKS – Masks are mandatory, and all our staff will be required to wear them.  We also require that every customer wears a mask to their appointment.  Please wear a mask that secures behind your ears, not tied to your head. Disposable masks are also provided at each appointment for your convenience. Please keep in mind that your mask loops will get wet and will be stained with color, so feel free to swap for our disposable option if you would like.

SANITIZER – There is hand sanitizer at each styling station, as well as at the front desk and in the restroom. Please wash your hands once you enter the salon and after your service, prior to checking out.

HOURS AND SCHEDULES – We will be open during normal operating hours, which can be found here. Booking is available by email at or by calling us at 773-276-9414. Online booking is not available at this time.  Please note: in order to maximize Social Distancing, our stylists are available by appointments made in advance; We are happy to accommodate same-day requests as much as possible!

APPOINTMENT TIMES – We ask that you arrive at the time of your scheduled appointment and not earlier.  If you are early, this is a great opportunity to enjoy a cup of hot coffee at one of our amazing local cafes. We will sanitize after each service with an EPA certified sanitizer to ensure thorough sanitation and disinfection of each stylist’s station, chair and tools.  We ask that you please be mindful of time since we are limited with appointments.  If you should arrive later than 15 minutes, we will ask you to reschedule based on the stylist’s discretion.

TOUCHLESS GREETINGS AND GOODBYES – Unfortunately, as much as this kills us, we will not be shaking hands, hugging or kissing at this time.  This is one of the hardest protocols to implement for us! We will, however, be very excited to see you and engage in Socially Distant Greetings!

AT APPOINTMENT –  We will check your temperature with a digital thermometer once inside.  Everyone who is receiving a haircut will also receive a freshly disinfected cape for the service.  Please arrive in freshly laundered clothing.

NO BEVERAGES/FOOD/MAGAZINES – We are unable to offer  beverages, pastries, or magazines until health and safety regulations allow.  We understand as this, too, will be a great struggle for many of us! If you would like to enjoy coffee during your appointment, you may bring your own. We will offer bottled water upon request.

LIMITED ITEMS AND GUESTS – Please keep all personal belongings to a minimum and on your lap.  Do not bring any extra guests with you, including children, unless they have a service scheduled as well.  Unfortunately, no pets will be allowed in the salon at this time unless they are service animals.  Being dog lovers, this hurts us, too.

ADDITIONAL FEES – Please keep in mind that additional hair color may be needed for your base or highlight touch-up appointment.  Consult with your colorist should you have any questions.  We have also added a $5-$10 fee which covers the cost of all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and sanitizing products that are additionally needed for all service providers. 

PAYMENT & GRATUITIES – We have contactless payment methods available for checkout and strongly encourage utilizing this instead of cash.  We recommend either storing your credit card on file with us prior to your appointment, using Apple Pay/Google Pay, or utilizing tap-and-go credit cards.  We suggest VENMO payments for tips, and have provided stylist VENMO accounts at the front desk.  You may also purchase an electronic gift card ahead of time via the link provided on our front home page and products page.

If you have an underlying health condition, we ask that you wait to return to the salon until you feel comfortable in a public setting.  Although we will provide a clean, sanitized, and safe environment, nothing is guaranteed due to the risks involved.  If you have been ill, had a fever, cough, or have been around someone who has been ill or quarantined, please wait at least two weeks to reschedule your appointment.

Please understand that rescheduling may be necessary due to the new capacity regulations and SVR service providers’ adjusted schedules designed to comply.  We will notify you as soon as possible and will do our best to accommodate the many changes that have occurred.  In addition, appointment requests can be taken via email our online booking page, or by leaving a message at 773-276-9414.

We ask for your patience and understanding during this time as we work quickly and diligently to be both accommodating and conscientious to your needs.

Thank you so very much for your kindness, support, and grace during this difficult time.  We have a ‘new normal’ to adjust to, but we will all get through this.  Although you may not be able to see us smile behind our masks, please know how happy we are to see you!

Opening Updates @ Bang!!!!

We hope you and your loved ones are safe & healthy!

We will be reopening on June 8th.

We will follow all health and safety guidelines provided by the Governor when we reopen. Please know that we have disabled online booking at this time. Email or call us to book your appointments.

We are offering limited services to ensure we protect you and our stylists. We will send out guidelines for you to follow when coming to our salon, or follow us @bangsalonchicago

We will offer limited color services and hair cuts. Color projects and chemical services have to  directly booked with your stylists based on their discretion. 

We can’t wait to see you, please be patient at this time while we get up and running.

Bang@ Salon Closing

With a heavy heart we decided to temporarily close our salon for our safety and for the safety of our community that we serve everyday. Unfortunately, while this is the best decision for the safety of others, this will mean that we will no longer have a way to earn a living.

As a community, we are asking for your help during these tough times. We believe that we are stronger together than when we are apart, and in these times we believe it’s more important to come together than ever.

Any donation that you can give is more than appreciated. In these tough times if you cannot donate, any warm words or thoughts are greatly appreciated.

100% of the donations will be evenly distributed directly to our employees.

You can donate a few different ways at this time. We have setup a go fund me page that you can donate w/ all proceeds going to our staff at this time.

Bang! Salon Updates

At this time, Bang! will remain open with shortened hours of operation. We assure you we are taking extreme measures to comply with CDC guidelines to maintain a clean and safe environment.

To keep foot traffic light please come to your appointment alone. If you or anyone around you has any doubts about health please reschedule or cancel your appointment. There will be no cancellation fees applied. 

In support of your stylist and your favorite salon here’s how you can help:

-Prepay for your service by calling or emailing the salon. Any pre paid appointments over $100 will be gifted $25.

-Donating or tipping your stylist in advance is a great way to help ease financial struggles (Venmo or QR codes are visible on our Instagram Highlights).

Thank you for all of your support through these uncertain times. We will keep you updated on any changes.
